I don't know what got me started in Geology. Maybe it was rocks. They were essentially strangers to me as a youngster in Chicago. But for some reason one of my science fair projects involved geology. I copied diagrams of faulting and strata from some books and included some rocks that had been bought for me.
As a high school student in Hamden, I went on a geological field trip that included a mining face and a quarry in Portland, Connecticut, and a rock cut in Meriden.
I have since followed that up with studies of volcanic features, glacial features, and a general study of geomorphology. I am also interested in how large scale patterns reflect underlying structure.
